8:00 pm Doug Moreland Band
*Are you really having the party on a Wednesday?
Yes, the party is held the same day every year, on Valentine’s Day. Some years this will mean a big weekend bash, and some years it will be a slightly smaller weekday party. Sure, some parties may be a little more convenient than others. But West Texas was never known for convenience; to enjoy the best the region has to offer, you have to be willing to work for it. And your hard work will be rewarded with great Texas music and a fantastic time with friends and neighbors underneath the West Texas stars.
*What do you mean, "Local's Night"...?
Since the party is the same day every year, each day of the week has its own feel. And we've decided that every time Valentine's Day falls on a Wednesday, we'll do a little something special and have only local bands play. Sure, some of them may not live here anymore-- but if you're from West Texas, you're always from West Texas.
*Will there be shuttles?
Yes, there will be safe rides home on shuttles from neighboring towns. Shuttles are provided free of charge and will be on a “first come, first serve” basis. Exact shuttle details will be confirmed the week before the party, but in general, shuttles arrive at the beginning of the evening and leave at the end.
*Will there be beer?
*What will the limited release beer be?
Every year we have a special bottle release that is only available at the party. This year’s special release will be Old Love, a Barleywine. More information forthcoming before the party, but we promise you that it will be awesome. And on Valentine's Day, you can ask us who it's named after.
*Will there be food?
Yes, several neighbors and community partners will have food and non-alcoholic beverages available for sale.
*Can we bring coolers, wine, or liquor?
No; outside coolers, food, and drinks will not be allowed into the event. Plenty of Big Bend Brewing Co. beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and food will be available for purchase.
*Should we bring our own chairs and blankets?
We will have some chairs available, but please also feel free to bring your own. And if it's cold, you'll be happy you have that blanket.
*How about cameras?
You are welcome to bring them but please refrain from recording performances.
*Dogs or no dogs?
Please leave the pups at home (unless it is a service dog, of course).
*Is there an ATM?
No, there is no ATM on site, nor is there an ATM in Valentine. You can pay with a credit card at the gate, for merchandise, and for beer, but food vendors will mostly be cash only. When in doubt, it’s best to bring cash.
*Where can we stay?
There are no accommodations in Valentine. There are great places to stay in all neighboring towns: Marfa, Van Horn, Alpine and Fort Davis. Shuttles will be running from these locations to get you to and from the show safely.
*Is there camping?
There is no on-site camping. There are no campgrounds in Valentine, but accommodations are available in the neighboring towns from which we are running complimentary shuttles.
*Can we park our RV?
There are a few small RV parks in Valentine now, including Corazon RV Park (432.425.0597), Love Shaks (806.781.9569), and Desert View RV (361.648.9281).
*Will we have trouble finding parking?
There will be plenty of parking within a short walk from the event site.
*Is it handicap accessible?
We will have handicap parking near the entrance and handicap accessible porta-potties on-site. The site is all one level but is rough terrain. Exterior surfaces are caliche and loose dirt so wheelchair accessibility will be somewhat challenging. If you believe you will need additional accommodations please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Can I get a refund?
The party is held the same day every year; rain or shine, snow or swelter. There are no refunds, for weather or otherwise.
*What will the weather be like?
If we knew that, we would’ve made our fortune in ranching. Typical February West Texas weather includes highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. You may need sunscreen during the day, but when the sun goes down it will get cold fast. Yes, you should bring a jacket.
*What should I wear?
Comfortable, durable, closed shoes are a wise choice. The site is rocky, dusty and uneven. Those boots were made for this event.
*Can we bring our kids?
Absolutely. Children under 12 get in free with an accompanying adult, and it is as family friendly as any outdoor event that centers around an adobe relic, beer, and live music can be.
*I have another question you haven’t answered. How can I find out more?
Email us at email@example.com.
*Is it worth the trip?
You bet. And you have to experience the party to fully appreciate it. See you in the desert!
